Bus passengers in Crewe, Nantwich and Congleton are being offered more frequent journeys under timetable changes introduced across Cheshire East.

Route 39 between Crewe and Nantwich is moving to an hourly daytime service from Monday to Saturday. The route serves Crewe railway station, Shavington and Hough, giving passengers more options for local journeys and connections.

The daytime changes take effect from Monday, 28 September, according to Cheshire East Council.

More evening buses in Congleton

Congleton's Beartown network is also being expanded. Routes 90, 91, 92, 93A and 93C will run into the evening from Monday to Saturday, with services operating approximately every 90 minutes between about 6.30pm and 10.45pm.

The extended timetable is intended to make it easier for residents to travel after the usual daytime period, including for work, shopping, appointments and social activities.

Sunday and public-holiday services are also being introduced across the Beartown network from 4 October. Passengers should check the current timetable before travelling because individual route times and stopping patterns may vary.

Connections across Cheshire East

Cheshire East Council said the improvements were designed to make local public transport more useful and improve connections between communities.

Councillor Mark Goldsmith, chair of the council's highways and transport committee, said the changes represented an important improvement for passengers, particularly people who rely on buses to reach work, education, healthcare and town-centre services.

The authority said the additional journeys would give residents more flexibility and support wider efforts to encourage sustainable travel.

Check before travelling

Passengers using route 39 or the Beartown services are advised to check the latest timetable before setting out, especially during the first days of the new arrangements.

Details of local bus services, journey planning and any later timetable updates are available through the Cheshire East Council public transport pages.
