Crewe Alexandra striker Josh March has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for August following an impressive opening to the 2026/27 campaign.
March scored the decisive goals in Crewe's first two league matches, both of which ended 1-0. His opening goal came on the opening day away at Crawley Town, where he headed home in the 95th minute at the far post to meet a cross from Joel Tabiner and secure victory for the Railwaymen.
A week later, March struck again against Northampton Town at Mornflake Stadium. He reacted quickest to a loose ball after Northampton goalkeeper Zach Jeacock rolled the ball out inside his own area, finishing from close range to give Crewe a second successive league win.
Other Nominees
March faces competition from three other players nominated for the award. Harry Boyes of York City, a 24-year-old left-back, scored two goals on his debut against Bristol Rovers and recorded three assists. Shaquille Gwengwe of Newport County has scored four goals in three games after joining from non-league Poole Town, including a last-gasp equaliser against Tranmere. Charlie Lakin, who recently moved to Barnet from Walsall, has contributed three goals and an assist in his first three games for his new club.
