Around 17,000 households are being invited to share their experiences of living in Cheshire East as part of a borough-wide residents' survey.
Randomly selected households will begin receiving invitations through their letterboxes from the week commencing Monday 31 August 2026. The council said the responses would help it understand residents' priorities and inform future decisions.
The Cheshire East Residents' Survey 2026 asks about people's local areas, council services, community safety, health and wellbeing, digital access and opportunities to influence local decision-making.
Who can take part in the Cheshire East survey?
The survey is not an unrestricted public questionnaire. Invitations are being sent to a random sample of households so the results can reflect communities across the borough.
Anyone aged 18 or over who lives at a selected address can respond. More than one adult at the same address may take part, but each person will need their own unique reference number.
Residents will be encouraged to complete the questionnaire online. Paper copies will also be available for some households and can be requested by people who need one.
Cheshire East Council said the invitation is genuine and that answers will be treated in confidence. BMG Research is independently managing the survey on the council's behalf.
Council says responses will inform future decisions
Councillor Nick Mannion, leader of Cheshire East Council, said the survey was intended to examine the wider experience of life across the borough rather than focusing on one project or proposal.
“We know people care deeply about their communities and the services they rely on, and that's why it's important that we listen to residents across Cheshire East.
Unlike consultations on specific projects or proposals, the Residents' Survey looks at the wider picture of life in Cheshire East, from people's local area and council services to wellbeing, community safety and opportunities to influence local decision making.”
Councillor Michael Gorman, deputy leader of the council, said every response would help build a clearer picture of residents' priorities and experiences.
“This is another important part of our approach to listening to residents. Every response helps us build a clearer picture of residents' priorities and experiences, helping us improve and make more informed decisions about the future.
If you receive an invitation, I would strongly encourage you to take part and share your views.”
Survey closes on 30 September
The Cheshire East Residents' Survey will remain open until Wednesday 30 September 2026.
