Crewe Alexandra will visit Blackpool on Tuesday at 7pm for their second Northern Group B match in the Jersey Mike's Trophy campaign.
Manager Lee Bell has encouraged his squad to seize their chances in the fixture at Bloomfield Road. The Railwaymen won their opening group game 4–2 against Aston Villa Under-21s, putting them in contention to strengthen their qualification hopes.
Squad rotation planned
Bell confirmed he will rotate his squad for the Blackpool match but emphasised it as an opportunity for players to impress.
"If you train properly and apply yourself properly and show a good attitude you'll get on the pitch and then opportunities come," Bell said. "Then, you have to take those opportunities."
The manager added: "They're ready to go and that's down to being really good professionals. There'll obviously be some changes. There'll be a chance for some to continue building up minutes, and we'll look after a few. Maybe one or two of the younger players from the youth team will be involved."
Current standings
Crewe sit second in Northern Group B. Jack Lankester scored twice in the Villa U21s win, with Adrien Thibaut and Luke Offord also on the scoresheet. Wigan Athletic lead the group after beating both Blackpool and Villa U21s 3–2.
