A family-run golf centre near Nantwich says it now attracts more than 50,000 visitors a year after transforming a former agricultural field into a leisure destination.
Cheshire East Council leader Nick Mannion and deputy leader Michael Gorman visited Need Golf Centre as part of the authority's Made in Cheshire East campaign.
James and Sophie Need founded the business in 2019. The centre combines a technology-equipped driving range with coaching, hospitality and family-friendly activities.
The business has since received England Golf's Facility of the Year award for 2026 and was named Toptracer Range of the Year for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Councillor Mannion said: “Need Golf is a fantastic example of the innovation, ambition and community spirit that defines Cheshire East. From transforming a former agricultural field into an award-winning destination, to welcoming more than 50,000 visitors a year, their journey is truly inspiring.”
He said the council's campaign aims to celebrate local firms and encourage investment across the borough.
Councillor Gorman said the business showed how a strong idea could grow into an attraction that supports the local economy and community.
Sophie Need said: “It's been an incredible journey building Need Golf from the ground up. We're proud to have created a place that's inclusive, welcoming and rooted in the community.”
The Made in Cheshire East campaign features businesses based around the borough. More information is available on the Cheshire East Council website.
