Crewe Alexandra Friendly Cancelled Over Pitch Safety

Crewe Alexandra's friendly match at Prescot Cables has been cancelled after concerns were raised about the playing surface at Hope Street stadium.

The decision was made when the team arrived for the fixture. Manager Lee Bell said player safety was the priority, particularly given that some squad members are returning from long-term injuries.

"The safety of our players is paramount," Bell said. "Our medical staff agreed the risk of playing was absolutely clear."

Bell apologised to supporters who had travelled to the fixture.
