A Congleton manufacturer has shown Cheshire East council leaders its plans for new tactile paving and manufacturing technology, alongside its work supporting young adults with special educational needs into employment.

Thermmark, based on Radnor Park Industrial Estate, welcomed council leader Nick Mannion and deputy leader Michael Gorman as part of the Made in Cheshire East programme.

The business designs, manufactures and installs thermoplastic playground markings and road marking products, supplying schools, nurseries and public spaces in the UK and overseas.

New products and manufacturing processes

During the visit, the leaders heard about a tactile paving range designed to help guide visually impaired people, along with a new manufacturing process intended to improve efficiency and support future growth.

The company has expanded from educational games, activity trails and sports markings into road markings and specialist infrastructure products.

Councillor Mannion highlighted its approach to employment, saying: "The company's commitment to supporting young adults with special educational needs into employment was particularly inspiring."

He said local employers could play an important role in developing skills and helping people build sustainable careers.

Made in Cheshire East visit

Councillor Gorman said the visit offered an opportunity to see how the products are designed and manufactured locally, and to hear about investment in new technology.

Managing director Neville Robson said Thermmark was proud to manufacture in Cheshire East and supply playground, street art, road and surface marking products to organisations in the UK and internationally.

The council's Made in Cheshire East programme showcases the borough's manufacturing businesses and their contribution to the local economy through innovation, investment and employment.
